Interdesticity

a word, and the idea behind it

There are more than eight billion people under the same sky. Each of us wakes up thinking our life is our own: our history, our choices, our timing, the people we've loved, the things we've lost, wherever it is we're trying to get to.

And yet, none of those lives unfolds alone.

Somebody makes a decision years before you even meet them, and somehow it ends up changing your life anyway. A five-minute conversation sends you down a completely different road than the one you were on. Two people land in the same place from totally unrelated directions and end up woven into each other's story.

There should be a word for that. For lives that unfold separately but keep becoming part of each other anyway.

Asteriris starts from that same idea. We're all looking up at one sky, but none of us are standing under it in the same place. The planets are in the same positions for everybody, and yet the life meeting that moment is different every single time.

Your sky is yours. Your story is yours. But neither exists in isolation.

Maybe that's really what we're looking for when we look up. Not instructions for what comes next, but another way to notice the connections that are already forming around us.
